FRAUD E-MAIL PHISHING SCAM ALERT

So I got this weird e-mail that said it was from the Better Business Bureau saying it had a complaint against me, the only problem is I am not a business and the sent email was not a BBB.com email address it was an AICPA.COM e-mail. So I looked into it and the email of course wants you to open a page and wait, well while you are doing that it is hacking your computer and sending a virus, so BE AWARE AND DO NOT OPEN THAT FILE. When I went to AICPA.COM they said they had been hacked and the people were sending virus' to many different people and saying different things. The e-mail almost looked legit but the picture of the BBB Logo had been an attachment which was the first give away. Here is the info from the AICPA Website:

Alert: Fraudulent Email Scam Under Investigation

On Thursday, February 16, 2012, the AICPA became aware that it was a target of a fraudulent email phishing scam that was sent to numerous individuals, CPAs, non-CPAs and members of the general public. The email incorporated an AICPA banner and referenced the recipient’s possible involvement in an unlawful income tax refund activity, and instructed the recipient to click on a link to provide clarifying information. The fraudulent email is not from the AICPA.
If you receive the email, delete it immediately. We are working with law enforcement and other organizations targeted by the email scam to identify the source.
If you clicked on the link in the email, we suggest you run a full virus scan of your system. Even if you did not click on the link, it is always prudent to make sure your virus protection is up to date.
To speak with an AICPA member service specialist regarding this matter, call 888.777.7077 and select option 1.

So just be cautious about what type of e-mails you open and only open ones from people you know. If you get an e-mail from a company and you don't want them anymore you can usually scroll to the bottom of the page and click "UNSUBSCRIBE" and they will stop e-mailing you. Just a few tips :-)
